Important note about the fabric, PLEASE READ: As I was constructing the bodice I realized this type of jaquard fabric is more decorative than structural. It is more loosely woven. That is why it is priced less than regular ballet bodices that I construct. Read more about it and its limitations further in the product description.

Make a beautiful statement on stage with this one-of-a-kind handmade ballet bodice, featuring an elegant jacquard woven in soft blush pink, aqua, and metallic gold. The intricate floral pattern has a beautiful dimensional quality that catches the stage light, while the cascading pink bows add a playful, dimensional detail.

The bodice is carefully constructed over a coutil foundation with boning for structure and support, with a finished lining for comfort against the dancer. The shaped neckline and pointed center front create a flattering classical ballet silhouette, while the diagonal arrangement of dimensional pink bows draws the eye across the bodice.

About the Jacquard Fabric

This bodice is made from a loosely woven decorative jacquard, rather than a tightly woven costume fabric. The jacquard has a noticeable amount of natural give in one direction due to the construction of the weave. It is not a stretch fabric, but the woven yarns have some movement.

The metallic gold yarns are woven into the design and, because of the nature of this type of fabric, may occasionally appear slightly raised or develop small loose ends with handling. This is a characteristic of the fabric rather than a flaw in the bodice construction.

The underlying coutil foundation provides the structural support and helps the bodice maintain its intended shape independently of the decorative outer fabric.

Recommended Use

Because of the delicate nature of the metallic jacquard, this bodice is best suited for special performance use, including:

  • Ballet recitals
  • Competitions
  • Solo or featured performances
  • Showcase performances
  • Photoshoots
  • Special events and productions
  • Fairy, floral, romantic, or storybook roles

Not Recommended For

This bodice is not recommended for daily rehearsal wear, intensive training, partnering, or productions requiring frequent rough handling. The metallic jacquard can be susceptible to snagging, particularly from jewelry, Velcro, rough costume surfaces, or repeated friction.

It is best treated as a special-performance costume and stored carefully when not in use. Avoid pulling or trimming individual metallic threads; contact with abrasive surfaces should be minimized.

Because this is a handmade one-of-a-kind costume, please review the measurements carefully before ordering to ensure the best fit.

A beautiful choice when you want something distinctive on stage—more special than a standard catalog costume and designed to make the dancer stand out.
